Where were you born and where do you consider home these days?

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I was a baby so I don’t even remember it really. I live in Lexington, KY, but Bowling Green will always truly be home to me. 

When and where did you first discover drag and how long have you been performing?

A Rupaul’s Drag Race episode caught my eye when I was in high school at age 15. My father blocked all forms of media I could access drag after that. It wasn’t until I visited Play-Nashville in college that I knew drag was my calling. 

Who is your biggest inspiration in life and why?

My mother. She is a first generation immigrant from Korea. Even though she was opposed to me doing drag at first because of her cultural background, she comes to see me at shows now and is my biggest fan! 

What is the one trait your close friends would say describes you to a T?

That I am a “feral creature” to say the least (Laughter). I’m such a weirdo and my friends love me for it. 

Best musical concert you have ever been to?

Glass Animals in Atlanta. I just fucking love them. 

Favorite international drag performer?

Vander von Odd from Dragula

If you had one superstar in the entertainment industry you would love to meet, who would it be? Why?

Anna Nicole Smith. Her entire career and beyond. The rise and the fall. All of it. 

Favorite number you have performed on stage?

I did Queen/Bowie’s “Under Pressure” while I was popping large boils and pimples on life size props on stage. Everyone was audibly grossed out and gasping. I love the shock value aspect of performing! 

Favorite city you have visited?

Vegas. I love networking and exuding weird energy all over that city in and out of drag. 

What adventure is on your bucket list?

I have a goal to walk the Appalachian Trail. Also, super intrigued about a Ayahuasca journey. 

Favorite film of all time?

It’s a tie- “Spirited Away” and both “Kill Bill” movies!

What is the one song that makes you get up and dance any time of the day?

Nancy Sinatra-“Summer Wine” 

What’s a perfect day in your world?

Wake up with no responsibilities. Drink black coffee. Bake bread. Stretch my muscles, dance around and feel myself. Go outside and be barefoot in a creek or a field somewhere. Really a life without capitalism. 

What is your favorite word in the world of profanity?

Fuck. (Laughter) It has such versatility! 

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

“The only way out is through”

If you could go back in time and give little Spectra Cosmos some words of wisdom, what would it be?

3 things: 1.)“It’s not all about you.” 2.) You can’t help others if you don’t help yourself first. 3.) Learn how to forgive yourself.” 

What’s next for Spectra Cosmos?

I’m super excited to announce that I’ve been invited to be a part of the Austin International Drag Festival in April!
