Chappell Roan, Icona Pop and Robin S. to headline Kentuckiana Pride
Get ready, Kentuckiana! Louisville’s Waterfront Park will turn into the Pink Pony Club when the Midwestern Princess herself, Chappell Roan, Swedish duo Icona Pop, and the legendary Robin S. perform Saturday, June 15 at Kentuckiana Pride Festival, kicking off pride in the Bluegrass.
In its 24th year, Kentuckiana Pride has served as an event for queer Kentuckians from all over the state to come together and celebrate their queerness out loud with the help of some big name superstars like Lizzo, Big Freedia and local talents like DJ DNasti and Voices of Kentuckiana.
“Each year I get excited about the Kentuckiana Pride Festival and Parade,” said Rodney Coffman, Kentuckiana Pride Foundation’s president. “In my years of service, I’ve seen growth not only in this event, but more importantly in the community and their involvement. As we enter our 24th year, it excites me to say after last year’s expansion that we are expanding once again! We will be introducing new areas within the festival, a record number of vendors, and all new entertainment on two stages.”
He continued that in today’s divided society it’s important to have events like this to remind everyone they are somebody, they are loved, valued, and not alone in living their true authentic lives. It brings people together that may not have otherwise met. It’s an opportunity to make connections, some that may even last a lifetime. It’s not only a celebration of our wonderful community, but also a reminder of the LGTBQIA+ history. We have come a long way, but we have a lot more work ahead of us as well.
The Pride Festival kicks off with the annual Kentuckiana Pride Parade, which is free to attend. The Parade starts at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 17th at Campbell and Market Streets and ends at the festival entrance at the Big Four Lawn.
General Admission and VIP Tickets for the Kentuckiana Pride Festival are on sale now. VIP tickets are limited and do sell out, so purchasing early is encouraged. General admission tickets are $10. Purchasing in advance is recommended for quick and easy access into the festival.
Money raised during the event helps the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation promote social, economic, and health equity of Kentuckiana’s sexual and gender minorities, as well as advocates pride, celebrates achievements, and educates leaders.
