Alice in Derbyland Returns for Third Year to Celebrate Derby Festivities

Sydni Hampton (They/Them, She/Her)

It’s that time of year again… Mint Juleps, larger-than-life hats, pastels, nightmare parking- and Drag Daddy Productions’ ALICE IN DERBYLAND returns to celebrate and pay homage to our city’s beloved Derby traditions for the third year. A scripted, parody-jukebox-musical, seeks to lovingly lampoon all of the quirks and oddities that accompany Derby events and how it changes the landscape of our city each May, through re-written pop songs and broadway hits that lend to a story of an uninformed visitor, who finds herself in a not-so-unfamiliar land where a celebration is underway. She meets many characters along the way, such as the Churchill Rabbit, who have long sought out ‘the one’ to topple the evil Delta Queen’s rule over Derbyland.

Louisville PLAYmate Gilda Wabbit returns to star in Alice in Derbyland. She is no stranger to Drag Daddy Productions (Wabbit starred as Hedwig in ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ as well as Mira Mira in ‘Snow White and the Seven Drag Queens’ and will star as Jesus in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ this summer.) as the Delta Queen herself, causing trouble for the in-Wabbit-ants of her fair land.

Come celebrate the commonwealth with the talents of Gilda Wabbit, along with Jake Minton, LiAndrea Goatley, Diana Rae, Leigh Nieves, Richie Goff, Alex Roby and Starlette this Derby season. ALICE IN DERBYLAND will come to Paristown April 16 at 3PM, and Art Sanctuary on April 21 at 8PM. Tickets can be purchased at with General Admission pricing at $25 and $15 for 18&Under, with additional group tickets available.
