Queer Kentucky
The festival, which is celebrating 25 years of queer joy, will be on Saturday, June 21 on the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park in Louisville.

According to a Kentuckiana Pride Festival press release, Natasha Bedingfield, a multi-platinum pop artist best known for her early 2000s hits like “Pocketful of Sunshine,” will be headlining.

Also taking the stage are The Scarlet Opera, a five-piece band from LA nominated for a 2024 GLAAD Media Award, known for blending theatrical grandeur with the raw energy of rock and roll. Joining them is Tanner Adell, fresh off a collaboration with Beyoncé on Cowboy Carter, and Molly Grace, who fuses pop, funk, and disco to craft a sound that’s both fresh and timeless. A second wave of performers, including a co-headliner, will be announced soon.
MORE DATA ABOUT FROM OUR MEDIA STUDY! As a leader in Southeastern LGBTQ+ media, Queer Kentucky recognized the need to highlight the importance of queer media in the region. To better understand its impact, we collected data to assess the challenges, opportunities, and value these publications bring to the LGBTQ+ community. Our goal was to explore the Southern queer media landscape and measure how it resonates with its audience.

We engaged with 11 publications across the Southeast, gathering insights from publishers, staff reporters, and their audiences. Our survey covered everything from demographic data to the depth of connection readers feel with print media versus digital platforms.

Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing data about what we found through our survey.

✍️ @evanmillward Reported federal cuts to HIV prevention programs would have “deeply alarming” impacts on work in Kentucky and Ohio, according to organizations doing the work here.

On March 18, NBC News cited an anonymous source claiming the Trump administration planned to cut more than $1 billion from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) budget, effectively gutting its HIV prevention division.

The source claimed the plan was still in preliminary stages and could involve moving some of the division’s responsibilities to other Department of Health and Human Services divisions. Another plan, according to the source, would cut about $700 million from the budget. 🔗 Read the full story with the link in our bio.

✍🏻 @oliviakrauth A GOP state representative in Kentucky accosted a transgender woman trying to use the women’s bathroom at the state Capitol Thursday, sparking a terse exchange with another lawmaker on the House floor later in the day.

Carma Bell Marshall, who leads the Trans-Wellness Coalition, tried to use the restroom before speaking at a trans pride event when Rep. Bill Wesley (R-Ravenna) intervened, allegedly falsely saying it was illegal for her to use the women’s restroom and involving state law enforcement. 🔗 Read the full story with the link on our bio
