✍️ @meth.borrison Mpox is back in the headlines with new outbreaks and concerns about evolving variants. After making waves in 2022, this virus—closely related to smallpox—continues to mutate, and now Clade I Mpox is taking center stage. With a higher fatality rate and faster spread, Clade I is raising alarms, but Clade II, the variant from last year’s emergency, is still causing smaller outbreaks. Vaccines remain our best defense, reducing the risk by up to 85%. Stay informed, get vaccinated, and stay ahead of the evolving threat.

LINK IN BIO 🗣️ @tonymunger There are four stages of mpox rash. It begins with flat, red spots. Then, those spots raise up and get hard. They grow and fill with liquid, almost like blisters after a burn. Finally, the blisters fill with pus. When the rash begins to clear up, the blisters will dry and fall off as scabs. This rash might leave behind permanent scars or completely clear up. In total, the rash generally lasts around 2 weeks. Mpox spreads primarily through skin-to-skin contact, and the infection can vary widely from one person to the next. People infected with mpox are still considered infectious until the lesions dry up and fall off, allowing a new layer of skin to form and cover the prior infection. If you want to avoid all that entirely, make sure to get both doses of the mpox vaccine.

✍️ @oliviakrauth Mpox is a global health emergency again. It spreads through close contact, including sex, and cases are rising. Vaccination is the best protection, and knowing the symptoms can help prevent further spread. If exposed, act fast and contact a healthcare provider. Stay informed, take precautions, and protect yourself and your community.
