✍️ @19thnews Camins Bretts, who is 61 and lives in Seattle, has crossed the Canada-United States border many times for work, family and romantic partners. But because he’s a transgender man, at least half a dozen of those trips ended in him being detained by U.S. border officials.

At various points Bretts has been pulled aside and questioned for traveling with identity documents that list him as male, as well as papers that identified him as female. Because of his gender expression, he has frequently been accused of lying about who he is. To find a solution, Bretts applied for a passport with an ‘X’ gender marker on January 22.

✍️ @spencerjenkss The Lexington Public Library has cut several “underperforming” LGBTQ+ programs including a Teen Pride Prom, LGBTQ+ Board Game Night and participation in Lexington Pride.

The library evaluates their programming at the end of every year and some get cut due to lack of attendance and return on investment, library spokesperson Dan Koett told Queer Kentucky.

“While we will not be hosting a Pride Prom this year, the Library continues to offer a robust variety of LGBTQ+ programs and services throughout the year,” he said. “[The Library] will be holding two Teen Pride Festivals, one in May and one in June.”

✍️ Adrian Silbernagel 🏳️‍⚧️ When I went in for my hysterectomy consultation, I had a cisgender female friend accompany me. The nurse loudly misgendered me in the waiting room (per usual) calling out “Miss Adrian Silbernagel.”

My friend stood up first, as we had discussed, and I trailed behind her, posing as the supportive boyfriend. When we got to the exam room the nurse stopped me. “You’ll wait in the hall for this part, hon. Patient confidentiality.” My cheeks burned as I explained to her that I was the patient. She looked royally confused. I spelled it out for her: I am a trans man; I still have my original plumbing, and I’m here for my hysterectomy consultation.

Embarrassed and flustered, she pushed a plastic cup into my hands and instructed me to go to the bathroom down the hall and give a urine sample. I walked quickly with my head down. A group of women in scrubs whispered and stared at me as I passed by them. 🔗 Read the full story with the link in our bio.

✍️ @drewwh0 This is an entry left in Gaza with Queering the Map, self-described as “a community generated counter-mapping platform for digitally archiving LGBTQ2IA+ experience in relation to physical space.” Since October 7th, 2023, Israeli Occupation Forces have martyred no less than 61,000 people as of February 3, according to Al Jazeera reporting, and critically injured 100,000 more Palestinians.

At least 1,500 of those deaths were after the January 15th ceasefire agreement. As of March 18, Israeli forces have abandoned the agreement in total with a full return to the bombardment and massacring more than 400 people in the evening following. Adding insult to all this injury, it was with the full knowledge and backing of the newest Trump administration. They are playing age-old games, seeking to overwhelm and confound with each new headline. Currently, here a man has declared himself king in all but name. Netanyahu, his cabinet, and Israeli settler-colonialism don’t sit on their hands while fascist power swells here. Representative bodies in all three branches of government almost fall over themselves to align with dictatorial agendas, similarly ceaseless. But really, all those words boil down to a reality where billions of people—domestically and abroad—are deprived of care, basic humanity, decency, and self-determination.
