Pride Month Beer Was Brewed in Collaboration with Queer Kentucky
Louisville, KY – On Friday June 4th, Mile Wide Beer Company (MWBC) will release Dorothy’s Riot, a beer brewed in collaboration with Queer Kentucky (QKY). Dorothy’s Riot is a 5% ABV Belgian-Style Witbier, brewed with Raspberry Purée. Mile Wide worked with QKY, Louisville Pride Foundation, and various members of the LGBTQ+ community to develop the name, recipe, and label design for the beer.
As part of the release, Mile Wide will host an all-day Pride event at their Louisville Taproom. The event will include:
- Various LGBTQ+ Vendors & Organizations
- Volunteers of America offering free & confidential HIV testing
- COVID Vaccinations from 7:00pm-9:00pm courtesy of Louisville Public Health
- Queer DJs spinning throughout the day
- Drag Show @ 7:00pm
- Louisville Silent Disco from 9:00pm-Midnight
Dorothy’s Riot will be released at the event, on draft and in 4 packs of 16oz cans. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will go to QKY. Additionally, there will be limited edition Dorothy’s Riot glasses for sale, with 100% of those proceeds going to QKY.
Scott Shreffler, co-founder of MWBC, said this collaboration is a long time coming, “We have been wanting to do a Pride beer & event for a few years, but haven’t been able to make it happen until this year. Luckily, we found the perfect partner in Queer Kentucky to help us make it bigger and better than we ever could’ve imagined. We couldn’t be more excited!”
Spencer Jenkins, Founder & Executive Director of Queer Kentucky, echoed that sentiment. “We’re so happy to partner with Mile Wide on this event. Due to COVID, Pride last year AND this year have been so weird. We’re just grateful that Mile Wide is holding space for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride month.
